5 Questions to ask Before you buy an 'It' Handbag

By: Nicola Pedley

You've decided to go for it - you're going to spend your hard earned cash on a designer handbag, but which one should you buy? There are hundreds of beautiful designer bags on the market and you've got an important decision to make. Do you buy the one all the celebs are buying, the one that all the magazines are raving about, the one that will make all your friends jealous? Here are some questions to ask yourself before you buy an 'it' bag:

1. Does it make you go weak at the knees when you see it? Does your tummy do little flip-flops?
If your answer's 'yes' then it could be the bag for you.
If your answer's 'no' then move on, that's a lot of money you're about to spend on a bag you have no passion for.

2. Have all your friends got one/got copies?
If your answer's 'yes' then don't buy it. You're an individual - go out there and discover your own style.
If your answer's 'no' then it's a possible purchase - you can certainly make all your freinds jealous!

3. Is it practical as well as beautiful?
If your answer's 'yes' and you think you can use it everyday then go for it.
If your answer's 'no' and your looking for a bag to take to work but you wouldn't even get a pen in it then carry on looking.

4. Are you only buying it because you've got a hot date on Saturday and want to look good?
If your answer's 'yes' then don't buy it. Men never notice things like that - you could turn up with a plastic carrier bag and he wouldnt notice.
If your answer's 'no' and you'd want it even without the hot date then buy it.

5. Have you been lusting after it for months and saving to buy it? Did you get yourself and extra job just to pay for it?
If your answer's 'yes' go out and buy it - you've worked hard for it.
If your answer's 'no' and you only saw it for the first time last week then take a bit longer to think about it. Do your research because there might be something you love even more.

If you've answered all the above questions you should now be in a position to make an informed choice over your next 'it' handbag purchase.
